How the chain system works
Mahjong Chain is a competitive Connect mode. The basic mechanics are the same as Connect: connect two matching tiles by a free path, with at most two curves. The difference is the chain combo.
Scoring rules
- Connected pair: +10 points multiplied by current chain size.
- Chain x2: +20 points. x3: +30. x5: +50 per pair.
- Chain window: 4.5 seconds between one pair and the next. Took longer? Chain resets.
- Error: clicking different tiles or pairs with no possible connection resets the chain.
- Hint: reveals a valid pair, but also restarts the chain as penalty.
Strategy for players
Those who enjoy fast-paced games — like classic arcade games — will relate to the combo timer tension. The tip is not to think too much: memorize the most common Chinese symbols (萬, 筒, 条, 風, 龍) and attack the obvious edge pairs first, leaving the center for when the chain is already hot. When the chain reaches x3 or more, the indicator highlights — it's the signal to accelerate.
Traditional Chinese symbols
All tiles use traditional Mahjong Chinese characters and designs: Wan (万, characters 1-9), Sou (条, bamboos), Pin (筒, circles), plus winds (東南西北) and dragons (中發白). Below each symbol appears the English name, so you learn as you play.
