How to play the Mahjong Tower
Mahjong Tower is a solitaire variant where tiles form a tall, narrow vertical tower. The main rule is the same: match two identical tiles that are free to remove them from the board.
Basic rules
- A free tile is one that has no tile above it and has at least one side (left or right) unobstructed.
- Match equal tiles: click two tiles of the same type to form a pair and remove them.
- Strategy: start by removing edge tiles to open a path to the center.
- Shuffle: if no moves remain, use the shuffle button to redistribute remaining tiles.
Why the Tower is different
Unlike the classic turtle layout, which is wide and low, the tower is tall and narrow. This means you have fewer options at the start and need to plan each move better. It's an excellent exercise in spatial vision and patience.
Tips to win
- Prioritize the top: freeing the top layer tiles early opens many options below.
- Balance the sides: don't remove only from one side — the tower can become "tilted" and you may run out of moves.
- Save strategic pairs: sometimes it's worth not matching a pair immediately if it's blocking important tiles.
